The best way to learn anything you want

Feynman

The Feynman Technique is a method of learning that sets free your potential and helps you to develop a deep understanding. It is named after Nobel prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman. He is known as “The Great Explainer”.This technique is derived from his studying methods when he was a student at Princeton University.

Process

There are four key steps to the Feynman Technique:
  1. Choose a concept you want to learn about
  2. Explain it in a plain way
  3. Identify Gaps
  4. Review and Simplify

This is an awesome learning method. You can not only follow easily these steps but also integrate it into any field or expertise.

Step 1: Choose a concept

Specify which topic you want to learn.Take a piece of paper.Write the concept’s name at the top and what know about that topic below the header. As you learn more, add it to your sheet. You can use diffferent color pens while noting down because according to most people it is so helpful to learning

Step 2: Explain it it in a plain way

Now,explain what you wrote as if you are explaining it to 10-year-old student in your words. You should try to explain simply as much as possible. Avoid using complicated words. Complex words make it harder to understand. To be more clear, you can give some examples.

Step 3: Identify gaps

In this step, try to figure out where you struggle or where you don’t really understand as well as you thought or where you feel your explanation is insufficent. Identifying the parts that you didn’t fully understand is so important in our learning process.Because,we must research them again and again till we understand.

Step 4: Review and Simplify

Finally you made it to the final step. You have a document that you can understand when you read.Review what you wrote again. If you find any technical terms or complex words, replace them with the simplier ones. Make sure that anyone without the knowledge base could understand your explanation.

Piece your notes together and start to explain it as if you are instructing in front of a classroom of students. This helps you again figure out where you have a lack of knowledge. Using analogies can strengthen your understanding of the topic
